Paul Garmirian cigars have an interesting history. Paul Garmirian is one of those guys who loved cigars so much that he started making his own. He started with a small line, and made sure to sell small, so that he would not change his product. He has written a book about cigar etiquette, and promotes a high end lifestyle through his cigars and book. Through the years, he has expanded his cigar line, created accessories, and grown his brand. It’s interesting to see the niche he created around his cigars.
Today’s smoke from the P.G. line is the Magnum Maduro (7 x 50). It’s an attractive cigar with a dark and oily wrapper. There is a distinct pre-lit smell of aged tobacco and a sweet aroma. These cigars are known for their construction, and this one looks great. It’s a smooth cigar, with semi-sweet and leathery notes. The draw is as good as any, and the cigar has a nice finish with a sweet balanced richness to it. Overall, this is one fine maduro, not as strong as other maduros, but a good medium-bodied, well constructed cigar in the high-end range.
